The Yani Neko manga

Chainsmoker Cat began in Japan as Yani Neko, created by NyanNyanFactory and published through Kodansha's Young Magazine line.

The original manga established the adult cast, apartment setting, smoking jokes, and everyday consequences adapted by the anime. The official anime site currently presents thirteen released Japanese collected volumes, while Kodansha now lists Volume 14 for November 6, 2026.

For readers arriving from the anime, the manga is the longer route into the same setting rather than a separate continuity or a replacement for the broadcast guide.

Use the Yani Neko title guide for the Japanese name and its English release title.

Volume 14 release date and latest web chapters

Kodansha lists Yani Neko Volume 14 for November 6, 2026. Volume 13 remains the latest released Japanese collected volume; it was released on August 6, 2026, and its B6 edition carries ISBN 9784065444801.

Young Magazine Web lists 411mg on October 5, 2026. No later update date is currently listed on the official series page. Use the official Young Magazine route for current chapters.

All 13 collected volumes receive a reprint

After the television anime increased demand and sellouts were reported, all 13 collected volumes were approved for reprint. New stock was expected to begin reaching stores from August 19, 2026, with further supply planned for September.

The reprint reports describe a Japanese market response to the adaptation. They do not change the separate English publication schedule listed by Seven Seas.

The 2026 anime adaptation

The television anime began broadcasting in July 2026. Taku Kimura directs, Takashi Aoshima handles scripts, and Bibury Animation Studios produces the animation.

The anime is a useful first sample of the tone, while the manga offers a longer view of the cast and their routines. Episode 1 introduces Yanineko through rent, work, and her apartment; Episode 2 brings Yakuneko and her circle into focus.

The two formats complement each other: the anime guide is best for staff, cast, and current episode links, while the manga pages concentrate on editions and reading options.

Where English readers can start

Seven Seas publishes the English edition under the title Chainsmoker Cat, with print and digital release information on its series page.

The publisher's volume pages are the right place to confirm a date, format, page count, ISBN, and retailer before ordering. Release calendars change more often than the story or character pages.

Readers who want release dates and ISBNs can move directly to the volume guide; readers looking for a legal sample should start with the publisher and Young Magazine links instead of search-result copies.

Choose the right reading route

Use the Young Magazine route when you want the Japanese original or an official preview. The official anime books section shows 13 released Japanese collected volumes, and Kodansha lists Volume 14 for November 6, 2026. The Japanese and English release calendars remain separate.

Use Seven Seas when you want the English title, a specific format, or a publisher-listed release date. Volume 4 was listed for September 15, 2026, followed by Volumes 5 and 6 on the publisher's schedule.

The two routes answer different questions: Japanese source material and current English editions. Keeping them separate prevents a Japanese volume count from being mistaken for the number of English books already available.
