Chainsmoker Cat Episode 8: Story, Cast, Staff & Stills

Chainsmoker Cat Episode 8 moves into an end-of-year setting around Yanineko's November 11 birthday. Imoko and the others plan a surprise, but a missed message means the person at the center of the plan is not properly informed.

The result is another misunderstanding built from a kind intention and poor coordination. The episode keeps the birthday material close to the series' everyday-comedy scale while the season turns toward winter.

Episode 8 gives more story space to Nishi Shunran, Kansaineko's younger brother. Shunran already appeared earlier in the anime, so this episode should be described as an expanded role rather than an anime debut.

The added family context gives Kansaineko's character route a new connection without replacing the core character profiles. The supporting-cast reference keeps Shunran's earlier appearance and Episode 8 relevance visible together.

The final part of Episode 8 shifts toward winter and New Year. Landlord becomes caught in an increasingly absurd mochi-pounding loop and tries to change a pattern that keeps returning him to the same problem.

That situation gives Landlord a comic problem of his own after he has spent earlier episodes responding to Yanineko and the residents. The story stays within the apartment's practical world even as the repetition becomes deliberately strange.

For Landlord's recurring role, see the Otani character guide.

The Episode 8 eyecatch was handled by composer 鈴木慶一 (Keiichi Suzuki), who also created the anime's music. The six official stills and the production panel below document the episode's visual and cast context.

Episode 8 is part of the birthday and winter stories that lead into Imoko's school storyline in Episode 9.
